The Crafts in Kazanlak

Ever since the days of the ancient Thracians, famous for their skills as coppersmiths and jewellery makers, the Kazanlak Valley infuses a special sense of charm into all handicraft articles made here. It stems from the mystic union of the mountains and the beautiful valley, later on – that of the roses and the fruits, and nowadays – that of the majesty of the Thracian ancestors and the rich later history of the region. There is evidence that both Antonio Stradivari and the Amati family have bought spruce and sycamore trees from the Rodopi Mountains in Bulgaria, wherein also lies the secret of the acoustics of the string instruments made in Kazanlak. You can see for yourself how timber, clay, metal, glass, silk and fabics come to life and become art in the ateliers of the Kazanlak masters. Arts and traditional crafts, applied and fine arts are all an essential part of life in the town of the painters, Thracians and roses.

Association of Craftsmen

The Association is comprised of 41 craftsmen, applied artists and painters from Kazanlak. It was founded in the beginning of 2005. With their works the members of the Association add much to the new tourist image of the town and gladly contribute to the promotion of the talent, beauty and culture of their region. They work with children, hold demonstrations and lessons... and await you in their hometown.
